2020 RR X CCC Thee best City in the World.
15.10.20
Ride 9 - 242.64 miles to go.
Great week of riding so far and we haven't hit the weekend either.
Today's route took me too thee greatest city in the World. Manchester. (said in a Mancunian accent).
Not sure of any other city in the World that has given the World so much. (Liverpool would be up there).
The Worker Bee!
Great Music (The Hollies, Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, Inspiral Carpets, The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, Oasis and many more).
Sports (Manchester United & Manchester City and the home to British Cycling).
The first Computer.
The Suffragette Movement.
Alan Turing and Modern Computer Science.
The Textile Industry.
The Football League.
Railways.
The Submarine.
The splitting of the Atom.
The oldest library in the English speaking World (1653).
Bracuta Harrington Jacket (Worn by iconic figures such as James Dean, Elvis Presley and Steve McQueen).
Vimto.
Rolls Royce.
Canals.
Graphine (the world's thinnest substance).
The London 2012 Opening Ceremony (courtesy of Manchester boy and creative genius Danny Boyle).
The Mancunian accent (the look on peoples faces who are not accustomed to it - LOL!)
And to finish off… on the sixth day God created MANchester. (see photo below).

I can get to Manchester a number of ways but my go to and most direct is along the A6 (one of the main historic north–south roads in England). From Wigan it is around 17 miles and anything around the hour mark is a decent effort to get there.
Once there, I usually head to either Rapha (have a look at the cycling clothing whilst thinking that a lottery win would be nice, oh and grab a coffee). Or head to another of my favourite locations - Hard Rock Cafe (hunt for a new pin badge, grab a burger and of course a well deserved cold beer).
Tonight's ride didn't allow time for this (fingers crossed for the weekend - if current climate allows it).
On the way back I pretty much stay to my outbound journey but on occasions peel off to add several more miles to my route.
Pretty pleased with tonight's effort clocking 1:12 and 1:18 and just over 42 miles.
With this ride I also hit 20000ft of climbing for my RR X CCC adventure. (20325ft).
324.68 miles down. 200.32 to go!
Ps - Your support would mean the World to me and even more so to The Arthritis Foundation…
