2020 RR X CCC Parbold Circuit
07.10.20
Ride 4 - 411.7 miles to go.
It has now started to get dark around 6:30/7:00pm. At the moment that is leaving me a decent two hour slot for any midweek ride that I can make happen. The most that I could hope to do in that time is around 30 miles but I am happy to hit 25 and get over 2,000ft of climbing.
The weekends are going to have to be where I put decent mileage in to help hit my 525 mark.
Ride 4 - Sod it!
Lets hit Stoney, Hunters and Parbold and get it out of the way.
It turned out to be a breeze. (Must be the fuel CCC sent to me in my goodies pack that fueled my ride well).
I didn't hit the climbs as hard as I could. Again opting to just take my time up them and not blow up.
The elevation chart below isn't that impressive in viewing as I was hoping and I am rather disappointed it doesn't show more in terms of how challenging each one really is.
However, fitness plays an important part in these little climbs. Every January I have to stop for at least 10 minutes at the top of any of these punchy climbs just to get my breath back, not be sick or faint. So today shows I am riding well and in decent shape. I think this is only the third time I have ever done all three in one go in maybe 10 years of riding.
The loop consists of a first descent of Parbold. Turning right at the bottom and going up Stoney Lane. At the top I make my way back round to the summit of Parbold once more for a second descent. Again turning right at the bottom and head towards Hunters Hill, passing Stoney Lane. Once I climbed Hunters, it was a descent back down Stoney Lane. Before a left and a second left to climb Parbold. A bit of a tongue twister but it is a fun route and highly rewarding to box off all three punchy climbs.
139.9 miles down. 385.1 to go!
