2020 RR X CCC Fish & Chips and Afternoon Tea with AC.
13.10.20
Ride 8 - 293.73 miles to go.
Awesome 50 and long overdue catch up with a legend of a friend AC (Andrew Cartwright).
It was really nice to have some company on my RR X CCC adventure.
A relatively relaxing route, taking in many quiet and beautiful country roads. A spot of rain and a little headwind at times but the majority was done with broken cloud, some sunshine and blue skies.
We headed out to the coast, just north of the seaside town of Southport and made the run in to the town from the north. Usually exposed to epic headwinds but today it was really rather calm.
Once we landed it would have been rude not to grab a good old English chippy for our lunch. Fish, Chips and Curry Sauce with a can of full fat Coca Cola - perfect!
We set off back to Wigan knowing we only had 25 miles to go. More beautiful countryside before I got my first puncture of the tour. (How many dudes does it take to change a flat tyre kind of scenario!).
On the way back we stopped for a spot of afternoon tea and cake at the newly opened and wonderful Eden Tearooms and Galleries. Highly recommended for anybody passing by! I will definitely not cycle past anymore without stopping for a treat.
Before we knew it, we landed back at our old local pub (Boars Head - but no time for a beer) and the ride was complete.
Just out of interest in the 8 rides I have done. My total elevation so far is 18239ft.
282.36 miles down. 242.64 to go!
Ps - Your support would mean the World to me and even more so to The Arthritis Foundation…
